When it comes to electrical installation, the use of electricity is essential for the continuity of operations and equipment; this is where electrical panels do their job.

But really, what is it for me? Is your role in the play so important?

Well yes, because the electrical panels they are practically metal frames that are used to protect each of the circuits into which the installation is divided and at the same time address the levels of short-circuit currents.

They are responsible for controlling, ordering, measuring, maneuvering, protecting through alarms and signals and distributing the electrical energy that comes from a transformer into the work.

Parts of an electrical panel

  • Cabinet: Usually metallized outer part, which is responsible for protecting all components of the control circuit.

  • Metal Rails: Base for mounting the components to be used for the electrical system.

  • Collector bars: Made of a conductive material and supply energy to the components of the board.

  • Canaletas: These are channels where the cables are placed to be able to carry them inside the electrical system from one place to another.

  • Electrical components: These vary depending on the electrical system we are talking about. They can be fuses, contactors, etc.

Working with electrical energy always involves a risk that can range from a spark or burn to death. An important safety measure for electrical panels is the installation of safety switches that can be:

  • Thermomagnetics: They protect the board and the installation from variations in current.

  • Differential: They protect the user from any accident within the facility.

Depending on their location, the boards can be divided into:

  • Main Dashboard Distribution: Connected to the main power line and from here they are referred to the circuits.

  • Secondary Dashboard Distribution: They are fed from the Main Distribution Board and this in turn protects the operation of the subfeeders.

  • Control Board: They contain safety devices to be able to maneuver.

Depending on the use of electrical energy, electrical panels can be applied to:

-Motor Control Centers

-Substations
